By what inspiration did Peter come by this information? 1 Corinthians 15:50; Galatians 1:15-16

The Greek word for rock here is petra which just happens to be Peter’s name. Is God saying that the church would begin with Peter? Why or why not? 1 Corinthians 3:10-11; Ephesians 2:19-20; Revelation 1:17-18

Who is ultimately the “Rock?” Psalm 118:19-22; John 1:40-42; Acts 4:11-12; 1 Corinthians 10:4; 1 Peter 2:1-8

Are these keys given to Peter only, or to the apostles only, or to all Christians? Matthew 4:9, 5:14-16, 10: 5-42, 28:18-20

A better translation for verse 19b would be “whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” What authority is this giving? Does it apply to people or to teachings? Matthew 18:15-18; Luke11:52

What examples can we glean from Scripture as to Peter’s importance in the early church? Acts 2:14-39,45-47, 3:11-26

Just as we need to do at Redeemer, the Gospel was being preached so that the new church would grow. Is the proclamation of the Gospel always an assurance that people will be saved? Acts 4:11-12, 8:14-23

Why didn’t Jesus want the disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?

How would Jesus be accepted by the world should He come back in the same way that He did over 2000 years ago?

What did it take for Peter to boldly step up with his declaration, and not adhere to the opinions of the crowd? What would it take for you?

The real practice of our faith may involve a risk and even, perhaps, ridicule from others. Does this scare you, or fuel you?
