Last night, Cheryl and I watched a movie called “Unplanned.” It was a deeply moving film about Planned Parenthood and their practice of abortion. As you might imagine, many pro-choice advocates were livid, claiming propaganda and lies while Pro-life advocates praised it for its realism. I’m sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. Regardless, the main point I got from the movie was that there is true beauty in every life.

Each life is a true miracle because each life is a creation of God meant to make a difference. In Psalm 139:13-16 it paints the picture, “For you formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

This is not to be meant as a condemnation of abortion (though I do condemn it in the strongest sense) as much as a hope that all will see the beauty in life. Even before we were conceived, God had a plan for us. Each person is gifted with something within them, given my God, to make a kingdom difference in the world. Sin gets in the way of that, but God’s will is for each of us to come to the truth and find the gifts given us. To God, each life is vital and worthy to love and cherish. Worldliness might cause that purpose to become hidden, but it doesn’t lessen the gift.

Each of us has been given a special ability that God had conceived for us from before we were born. Each of us has been made into the likeness of God, with a soul instilled at conception. “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the flesh of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

You see? Each one of us has been made special in the eyes of God because we were created to be special on earth. We have all been appointed with a special purpose and empowered with special abilities to work together as we have dominion over all the earth. This is a tremendous responsibility that not enough people take as seriously as they should. You and I are not here by mistake or by some random action of molecules with no one to manipulate them. We are made miracles with a bond with our Creator. We are, each one of us, beautiful creations made in the image of God, born with a unique opportunity to serve Him.

As you say your prayers, Thank God for allowing you an opportunity to practice your faith with the certainty of God’s purpose for you. Celebrate the life He has given you and work to make each life around you as beautiful as you can. You are a miracle! Your life truly matters! Please pray with me:

Heavenly father, forgive us when we forget just how beautiful life can be. Be with those who have found life more of a challenge than a gift and help them come to the realization that You love them unconditionally and are willing to lead them to the places you had planned for them before they were even conceived. Help us all to cherish the life you have given us with a strong commitment to follow You wherever You would have us to go. Amen.
