“Indeed, man was created to be the image of God, and to be His image for this very purpose: that God should and would be known through him. Therefore, God should appear and shine in the entire life and conduct of man as in a mirror; and a Christian should have no higher and greater concern then so to live as not to dishonor God’s name.”
Something much easier said than done. In a world that values the worldly gods of fame and fortune, it seems harder to find those who have the courage to walk in a way that glorifies God in every way. Worldly forces bolstered by self-reliance and self-gratification have placed Christians and Christian ideals into a strong box of ignorance, relegating Christian belief into the realm of fantasy.
Despite this, the power of God’s Word continues to shine. Hebrews 4:12 tells readers plainly, “For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
For those who have the courage to live by its wisdom, the Word of God can be used as a guide to separate themselves from worldliness towards a more fulfilling and productive life, shaping the advocate into the image of God that He has created us to emulate.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). By this guidebook we can learn to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which (we) have received” (Ephesians 4:1).
Indeed, the life that a Christian is asked to walk, one that glorifies God in every way, is not an easy one in a world that doesn’t seem to value those principles as much as it used to. But, even in this, we have the almighty strength of God and the guidance of His Holy Word and Spirit to carry us through towards the promises of eternal life free from the hangups of this current world.
Today, vow to God to live your best life. One that glorifies Him in all you do by making everything you do a ministry unto Him.
Our Prayer: God, give us the strength to overcome the world in a way that glorifies You. Keep us steadfast in faith and determined to live a life worthy of the calling we have received. Amen.
